Short Hieroglyph Dragon deck review (sorta)

After a few days of testing, I feel very comfortable with the deck and the deck can put out extremely explosive plays quite consistently.

The build I'm currently playing focuses on Rank 6's, better know as Atumus the Hieroglyph Dragon Lord. Its ability to special summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from your deck is deadly.

If that doesn't work, I have a back up plan in the form of Dragorado, which basically fits itself into the deck easily. Since it tributes stuff and acts as Debris Dragon for normal monsters. In addition of being a Debris, you can have it be a level 8 by releasing a Dragon (aka any of the Hieroglyphs). Now you can have Emmet and another normal monster out.

The deck can also go into Neo Galaxy-Eyes, but aside from acting as an oversized beater, its not that good.

The problem I have with the deck as of now is :

The deck leaves you empty handed most of the time after a combo. Most of the combo are easy to do but it will almost always take your entire hand to do it. Which would be a problem if your OTK doesn't work.

Conclusion : The deck is definitely fun and definitely has potential. A level 6 normal Hieroglyph Dragon can make this deck a lot better in my opinion. Which may actually be in the pack as well. If you look at Hieroglyph Seal's set number, its GAOV - JP002, normal monsters always have been the first few cards in the set, and now we have this card as a 002. 001 will be another normal monster, I really hope it'll be the dragon I'm waiting for.

If we have a Rank 4 Hieroglyph Dragon with a good effect, that'll probably broke this deck. Not possible in this set as all the monster exceeds have been shown.

I agree with u gq, the deck plays lvl 6 is better than playing
Dragondo( sorry if misspelled). ^^

Super Rejuvenation solves your "handless" problem. It can completely refresh you with 2-4 cards after a long combo! You don't always draw it, but if you don't you should be going for combos such as double Ennead anyways, and so should either be pushing for game or generally just hoping you can scare your opponent into submission. xD

Use Luster dragon #2 and curse of dragon for easy rank 5 and 6 plays. If anyone ever wants to test play on dueling network hit me up. DN; Darkcloud1022

Try adding a flamvell guard, it helps the deck open some synchro options ^^

The deck doesn't need synchros to begin with, what it needs is better xyz monsters in my opinion. The 2 boss are good, but not enough to make them tier 1.

haha I know it doesn't need synchros but with synchros it opens more options. Furthermore, if you are playing ocg yugioh in malaysia, you can't use a lot of xyz due to the dt print. So why put the same copy and why not try adding some synchros in ^^. Not offending you gq but just a piece of advice =p

Enemy Controller in this deck is fun as hell, and works AMAZNGLY.

I really want to believe in a Blue-Eyes build with White Stone of Legend, Cards of Consonance, Super Rejuvenation, and Trade-In but my tests just haven't been working out with that so I think a build focusing on Rank 5s/6s with Curse of Dragon and Luster Dragon #2 will probably be the best.

Ennead can really be devastating but he only really works when you A) have a ton of Hieroglyphic Dragons in hand to tribute for him and B) enough normals in the deck to make use of 2-3 tributes, both of which are pretty poor conditions. It's kind of unfortunate, but maybe once we get more and better Rank 8s builds will be able to focus on it.

Also I personally don't see the point in Dragorado. I know he's fits with the deck's themes but I think in this deck he isn't at his best, since he won't be able to make a 1-card Xyz. He's probably better in his own Rabbit build using high defense Level 4 monsters like Mystical Elf and Renge with Chaos.

@JDAManson : yeah Dragorado failed me after test plays, for it to be worth it, I need to have REDMD in hand, but REDMD can do better things than that.

I don't like Super Reju, cause the card is the center piece of an OTK, I don't like people saying "oh, another otk self touch deck when this is clearly not", not really saying the card's not good (I never tried it), but its a card I would avoid unless absolutely necessary.

@ Syncro Annon : well, the deck only runs 2 promo Xyz'z at the moment. Zenmaio's legal status is unclear to me at the moment cause some dealers are stating the products are legal and stuff. Most of the games I would only play 2 Atumus and 2 Annead, the others hardly ever comes out, so maybe a few syncros (5,6,7,9), but definitely not a tuner

@GQ: I know what you mean, every time I tested it the first day with the Blue-Eyes/White Stone of Legend draw engine build, every person I dueled would say "deep dragon draw Exodia..." every time I played Super Rejuv. But I honestly think it'll be the best way to do anything with the deck as it stands. It's too bad because I really think this deck can and maybe even will be able to do great things if people find out what exactly is the best way to play out of myriad of ways to build the deck.

Wiki changed the cards again. You can only special a normal 0/0 dragon from hand, deck, or grave. IT HAS TO HAVE 0/0.... No more rank 5 and 6 spam. Best thing this deck has left is neo galaxy. All this hype for nothing lol

Wikia is wrong, they usually take the information from Shriek, where it says "select 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster in your Hand, Deck or Graveyard, and Special Summon it with its ATK and DEF changed to 0.", still not going to care about that if Konami reveals a Lvl 6 Normal Holy Marked with 0/0 stats most likely.
