X-Sabers (Asia format) Update

Its been a while since I've done any update to my X-saber deck aside from changing it to the current ban list. I'm under the impression that X-sabers are one of the worst decks you can play at the moment because Inzektors are running around everywhere, and even now, I still fill the same.

One of the main reasons why I think this deck would suck is because everyone either plays Inzektors (where this deck's main card, Emmersblade, is useless against) or side into Macro Cosmos. Making every match I would face a total nightmare. I was planning to not run this deck as long as Inzektors are tier 1, but decide against it, since it would be fun to run the underdog.

monster (21):

3 XX-saber Darksoul
3 XX-saber Emmersblade
2 XX-saber Faultroll
2 XX-saber Boggard Knight
2 X-saber Pashuul
1 XX-saber Fullhelm Knight
1 XX-saber Regigura
1 X-saber Airbellum
3 Card-Car D
3 Effect Veiler

spell (10):

3 Creature Swap
2 Pot of Duality
1 Mind Control
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Monster Reborn
1 Book of Moon

trap (10):

2 Gottom's Emergency Call
2 Torrential Tribute
2 Solemn Warning
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Reinforce Truth
1 Chain Disappearance
1 Call of the Haunted

Side (15):

2 Ryko Lightlord Hunter
2 Maxx C
2 Electric Virus
2 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Dark Hole
2 Shadow Imprisoning Mirror
2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
2 Bottomless Trap Hole

I only mained 1 copy of MST because the deck has Hyunlei as backrow hate. MSTs main purpose would be to get rid of Macro Cosmos and Dimension Fissure.

Creature Swap is a card that I really love in X-sabers. Whenever I played it, I always win that game, ALWAYS. With Creature Swap, I don't have to set Emmersblade all that often and that leaves Darksoul as the only target for Hornet to pop. As everyone knows, Creature Swap and Emmersblade is a terrifying combo, simple, basic, but causes massive damage.

Assuming your opponent has no backrow, whatever the reason. A Creature Swap and Emmersblade will not only get rid of your opponent's monster, but also a card in hand, thanks to Airbellum. That might not seem like much, but if you add to the fact that Veiler can't stop this and the fact that Sabers's main play style is to slowly but steadily get rid of your opponent's resources, this can be devastating.

Darksoul and Card-Car are both cards that gain you advantage, sure, you might start slower in comparison to something like Hieratics, but once your combo goes off, you are would almost always win. Unlike Hieratic, where if something goes wrong, you lose; this problem is not present in Sabers. Even if the combo is somehow stopped (I'm taking Gottom's Loop), you are still generating advantage through Darksoul. If your going against a combo deck like Hieratics, rest assured that once the Gottom's loop goes off, you win. No doubt there.

Still, this deck's greatest weakness would be Dino Rabbit. Dino Rabbit have access to not only Macro, but also Dimension Fissure. And combined with a Laggia at the front, its one of the toughest walls to beat.

Now, do I think this deck is good? No doubt. But would I run it? No way! This is the fate of tier 2's, they are too dependent on what the tier 1s are. When a tier 2 is not hurt at all by the tier 1s and side deck cards people play against the tier 1s, it will do good. But its a whole different story the other way round. As long as Macro Cosmos sees a lot of plays, this deck can never top anything (big).

Oh, this build is basically geared towards taking on the Asian format META.

ECon might prove to be useful in this deck. Additional defense measure against insects and dragons and you you get to combo with Darksoul.

thought about skill drain sabers? can be played a lot like t.g. stun with hotpb etc...

just run...
3 saber hole
3 x-saber pashuul
3 saber slash
3 reinforce truth (use during battle phase and your opponent might get mad for not being able to atk directly, or during the beginning of opponent's main phase when you have saber hole on field.)
depending on the build, this could drop the tempo of the deck, which is not a bad thing for x-sabers. it would change the playstyle of the deck though. i like to utilize x-sabers in a trap-heavy build and by doing so, there will be less attention on the boggart/faultroll play and more of a control play. i hate getting veiler'd when attempting to use boggart's effect. emmersblade/gottoms' e-call equals three emmersblade in grave and 3 darksouls just waiting to die, or your opponent losing their hand and field if you have faultroll in hand, end phase searches, and a ton of damage taken. but hey, you thin out your deck, and you got your opponent top decking. i think that would be worth it.

oh, almost forgot. the deck has the option of running six (yes, six of them) horn of phantom beast. also six solemn (negating summons). also six starlight roads. also six darksouls.

at one with the sword is the other horn

xx-saber garsem is the other darksoul

saber hole is the other solemn

super rush recklessly is another tech i like. responding during opponent's turn and searching afterward(garsem/darksoul) is just...greedy.

hmm, I see where you going there. but with inzektors running while I don't really think saber slash be of much use, same goes for pashuul. Horn (+ variants) in my opinion should be played if my deck mains skill drain.

saber hole is good, but i find it not fit my play style. As I'm the kind of guy that just leave the field blank before I'm sure my plays would go off.

I'd focus on swarming and thens wapping an Attack Position Passhul in this build...

not a single hand trap can stop that troll :P

the only out is Photon Streak Bouncer negating passhul before sending it over >_<

i wouldn't send a Pashuul, who would? the only target for Swap would always be Emmers. Only chance something else got sent would be "meet your doom." kinda scenario
