Bye 2010!! A look back the past year!!

This is basically what I posted a year ago, same title(except for the 2010 of cause), and I'm gonna post a similar topic.

2010 was a VERY VERY good year for me, YGO AND non-YGO. My grades are getting considerably higher (from failing to getting 1 or 2 A's). I've been going to locals far more then before (and ranking quite high for most of them).

Getting to know Cookie, Team Abaranger among others.

Down side is that I think that I spend more in YGO then ever before ... need to cut down on booster packs!!

From this point, we can safely say that 2010 is the Year of OTKs. At the beginning of the year, TDSH brought us 2 extremely powerful and broken deck types, one stupidly expensive and the other a bunch of commons and rares. Infernity and Frogs made us realize once again just how powerful loops are.

DREV brought us what TCG call "The Trinity". Pot of Duality, Solemn Warning and Effect Veiler (not true in OCG) changed the game paced. Pot of Duality gave pace to decks that are slower before and to the point that you can't keep up without having a play set yourself(if your running AntiMETA or equivalent). Warning just acts as the new BTH and completely replaced it as for now.

2010 was also an important year to us, as Lam's forum started and the whole KL YGO community became closer and info can be spread easier.

To name a few interesting things that happened in the past year :

1. Lam Forum
2. YGO Championship PLUS, the 1st official Team Tourney in Malaysia was organized, and the championship title was won by our Reps! Another Medal of Honor for our YGO community.
3. Wong Fei Hung became a legend. It started as this format begin, and the person who was just everyone's friend rose to legend and top 90% of all the locals that was held.
4. Nick top8 in last week's Malaysian Open with Odin//Gravekeepers.
5. Head Judge Cookie.

I don't really think the facts after 3 are THAT important, but I've run out of things to write.

Before I end my post, I wanna do what I did last year. Reviewing my E HERO side deck. This is to show how my deck evolve in a year, and I hope that I'll be doing this again next year.

2 Cyber Dragon
2 DD Crow
2 Super Polymerization
2 Book of Moon
2 Skill Drain
2 Chivalry
2 Fairy Wind
1 Dust Tornado

Cyber Dragon is a card that could be an answer to many decks. Its mere presence is a being that symbolizes Power. Siding in this against decks like BF, GB, Stun based or Beat based deck, you name it, and it will be a chore for your opponent. It's 2100 attack points and special summon ability, together with its attribute and name, place it on top of all other beatsticks.

DD Crow can be a pain, especially to decks that need a certain card in the grave to play. Most notably, Frog Monarchs, Debris Dandy and Infernity. While players are starting to drop this in favor of Cravice. This card is still more suitable for decks that play heavy traps, as who know when your opponent might drop a Decree upon you. While most decks nowadays need a chain of combos to play effectively, it could be stop by a simple yet surprising move of dropping this raven from your hand.

Book of Moon is no stranger to competitive duelist. Siding it however, is an act not many would do. Well, people are now dropping, BTH, the so called staple from their main, my call is this card is next. Just look at our META, just what deck does this card stops? Samurai? NO. BF? A little. Debris Dande? Yes. Angel decks? NO. Meta beat? NO. While this card is good and it CAN potentially change the outcomes of the game, its not doing it right now.

Super Polymerization is a card all fusion E HERO players must play. The ability to snatch and disrupt your opponent's game plan, plus the ability to not get imagine break is too good. However, as powerful as it is, there aren't that many decks that this card could single handily take down. While its options are limited, this card can be gamebreaking and devastating when used against the right decks.

To fusion E HERO players, playing this card isn't logic, its just addiction.

Skill Drain isn't as good in the meta as it was. Stopping all effects on the field can be very very powerful, but it doesn't do as much now as you thought. While its not what its used to be, it can still very much likely win games for you. Main worthy, an obvious NO, but side worthy? YES. Its just one of those cards that aren't doing that well, but its still too good to let go.

Chivalry, a card that is not really needed in the side right now. Why is it still in my side deck ... well, lets just say it safe my ass too many times for me to bail it right now. The only decks this card might be good against are BF and GB. Sometimes, Lightlord and Debris Dande. BUT, there are better cards against these decks ... while I do know that, it seems that its impossible for me to take this card out right now.

Fairy Wind was a card that I took a liking of since it came out. Its effect is simple and good. It stayed in our scarp pile for god knows how long cause there ain't any decks that this card can do good against. But now, since the boys from Edo are doing so well, this Ominous Wind will take down their pretty Gate before they can make use of it. There are better cards that could do the job, but I just like this card ... quite a lot.

Dust Tornado ... A card I really hate ... I really hate it, but I don't have anything that could be sided in instead.

Thats it for 2010!! See you guys again next year!!

YGO manga updates!!

Forget what I said in the previous post. Just finish reading this issue's 3 YGO manga.

ZeXal's pilot episode is ... ok at best, its quite shonen, just not really YGO. I like the fact that Yuma starts out as a noob, unlike Yugi and Yusei who are pro from the start(well, Yusei has been dueling illegally for years so we can deal with that), and Judai is just an asspull bastard.

Other than that, it reminds me of YGO manga chapter 1, where Jounouchi took a piece of Yugi's puzzle and threw it into the school pool.

5D's manga was boring ...

Aki vs Kiryu ...

If that was a real duel, we see who win already. I mean, Aki vs Kiryu? The only reason Aki might even win is the fact that she's the female lead, and Kiryu lacks back story in the manga.

Infernity Knight is mediocre at best, wonder why people keep telling me its broken. Archer however, can be quite powerful and deadly, just not splashable into any Infernity deck.

KC memorial park!! Woo Hoo!! Did Kaiba died?

Now, moving in to GX, the best of the 3 obviously.

Tragodia is ... revived, and his doing Godzilla over at Duel Academy. And he made this with the Planets. A Grand Cross!!

2 on 1 duel, Judai + Manjyoume vs Trag.

Trag, being the nice guy he is, gives Kuriboh and Earth back to Judai, and Judai being smart for once, decided to play safe, by using his E HEROs!

I was like : "YEAH!! HELL YEAH!! E HERO!!" when I saw him summoning Forestman, and I bet Manjyoume fills the same as well.

Trag is using some weird ass strategy which reminds me of the one Yakou used when he dueled Kaiba, you know, waiting for Ultimate Dragon to be summoned, the take the fusion material. I was actually pretty surprised when Trag didn't special summon Trag(card) when Manjyoume direct attacks him.

Guess we have a few more episode and 1 or 2 more Tankoban to go. Since the title for this episode is Duel 61 : Final Duel.

Librarian OTK

This could very well be my final post here this year (unless something happen in the YGO world in the next 3 days or I have some ideas).

I promised an OTK deck based around TG - Hyper Librarian, the most sought after card this month.

monster (17):

3 Junk Syncron
3 Effect Veiler
3 Magical Examplar
3 Apprentice Magician
1 Summoner Monk
1 Crystal Seer
1 Magicat
1 Endymion, Master Magician
1 Glow Up Bulb

spell (23):

3 Magical Citadel of Endymion
3 Arcane Barrier
3 Spell Power Grasp
2 Miracle Syncro Fusion
2 De- Syncro
2 Double Summon
1 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Giant Turnade
1 Magical Stone Excavation
1 Foolish Burial
1 Monster Reborn
1 Terra Forming
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 One for One

Basically this is a deck that starts out REAL slow. To slow your opponent down, you have Veiler, but if thats not enough ... I'm sorry mate, thats it.

The deck would most probably win the turn you could summon 2 Librarian.

Summoner Monk, One for One and a random monster and spell (preferably, Endymion or Glow Up). Monk special summons Examplar, One for One is activated for Veiler, Examplar gains 2 counters. Syncs Veiler to Monk for 1st Librarian, remove a counter on Examplar and summons second Librarian, from there (unless you are godlike unlucky) the deck would work itself.

Arcane Barrier may be a dead draw most of the time, BUT it might also save your ass by giving you 4 new cards when Citadel is out.

The duel usually ends with you having 3 Supreme Arcanite Magician, Scrap Dragon and Stardust up. Or at least thats how I like to end it.

You might wanna play Citadel only when you are certain you could play Arcane Barrier and gain 4 cards, otherwise, stall first.

Apprentice + Veiler is one hell of a wall, since no one mains Nobleman in the OCG.

If you can't syncro by (your) turn 3, just scoop, you can't win.

Most of the OTK decks I make are like that, you lose if you can't win.

I warn you, this isn't an easy deck to play. It may seem harmless on paper, but a few guys at SW (which I don't know very well) asked if they could try and failed horribly.

Random Rant 1

This basically happen 2 days ago during the Malaysian open. Lam played against Herald of Perfection match 1. After he finished his round, he told us that he had sided in 3 Banisher of the Radiance (a card choice we both like very much against that deck). But the issue came when he said he somehow blew up Krytsia when Banisher was on the field, his opponent removed it from play instead of going on top of the deck.

I said, no! It'll still go on top of the deck. Naturally, everyone around (no judges thou) says other wise. And making good points to defend that as well. Out numbered, I shut up.

I remember that Krystia still get topped deck even if Macro is on the field (and Banisher does no different, unless other wise, but that isn't the point). I remember this VERY clearly cause I once planned to build a Herald deck myself and look into every card's rulling and watched game plays.

I remember this the most. Herald vs Macro Monarch on Nico Nico douga. The Monarch dude has Macro out or D Fissure. The Herald dude Sacs his Herald and another monster to his Krystia. The Monarch guy has like 200 life left and Caius in attack position, he flipped Mirror Force. The Herald guy took Krystia and placed it top deck.

Thats why I remember this very clearly.

I just remembered this issue a moment ago and went to YGO wikia to check it out (I know, its not 100% accurate but most of the time, and on cards that are making an impact on the meta, it is). Both the TCG and OCG rulling supports my point.

Not trying to bash anyone here, but just pointing this out so that no one would argue with me regarding this rulling issue again in the future.

On side note, I have found no effective way to side against Agents. I know they aren't THAT good, but my Sabers don't work that well against monster removal. Or maybe because I don't know how that deck was played (that was a problem, if your opponent has to ask what most of your cards do, you most probably will win the duel, quote ... someone...).

But overall, I still feel that Herald is the bigger threat, and I regret selling off my 3 copies of Light Imprisoning Mirror a few months ago. While the card is nothing but a common, its definitely gonna be an expensive one.

One thing can be certain from what I've seen in the Malaysian Open (or what ever its called), BF is slowly, but certainly DYING here. The more known BF players in KL, Zack and Sean both switch to Samurai. All of the more well known players here, aside from a few switched to Samurai. Of cause, that leaves out those players that I don't know that much, cause my friends list mostly resolves around people that comes to SW frequently. But seeing only one BF made top 8.

This is kinda disappointing to see because BF clearly is one of those deck that could compete with Samurai. But problem is that most of the better players in Malaysia don't wanna give the deck a second chance it seems ... I think ...

Just watch a video on Youtube posted by CapitalG, its about how some cards aren't that good this format. He picked BTH, Torrential and BOM. I mostly agree with what he said. BTH and Torrential aren't really that good in this format as I have early said. BOM not good is a pretty bold thing to say. But, the guy has some points.

G said that while BOM at 3 in most decks are godly, but not in ALL decks. There are some decks in the meta that just don't bother with the card. While its an 1 card out to a lot of decks, maining 3 of it can sometimes slow you down. This is evident as some of the decks winning or just randomly posted over at main-OCG -land is either siding it or dropping it completely like what they did for BTH. I'm not saying that the card ain't good now, but its not as good as you think it is. Firstly, whenever we wanna make a point, we have to look at the top deck, for our case, Samurai.

BOM CAN slow Samurai down. But its a BOM alone ain't doing much shit if you have nothing to back that play up. If my oppenent summons Mizuho or Shinai, I book it, the loop is broken and he doen't get to search. Correct, but look at how many decks playing that combo and win? If your opponent starts with Kageki, you can stop Shien from coming out, BUT you can't stop his spamming. And thats how most Samurai decks play. The only good thing BOM can do to Samurai is Book that Lone Kizan when its summon so Grandmaster and other Kizans could come out.

I'm not saying the card can't do shit against Samurai, but there are cards that could do a better job. 1 for 1 cards aren't gonna do, much to Samurai, AND BOM ain't even 1 for 1. Kageki and Kagemusha have huge asses by the way.

Problem with BOM is that we are so into the "we all need 3 of this" shit, that we don't see other good options for our deck. I can't find a good substitute YET, but if you keep this in mind, some of us might find it. The point I'm trying to make is, don't assume a card being a staple just because its good and it helps your deck. There might be other cards that is just as good or better, you just don't realize it.

Reinforced Truth is a good example of unexpected tech. We all know it could search out that Kagemusha for Shien. But most would drop this idea cause its not consistent ... or so we all logically thought. But a guy mained 3 of this and topped a 248 participant tourney over at OCGland.

Sorry to ruin your day with this long ass post!! Hope you don't wanna kill me for wasting your time and eyeball fluids!!

26th December Malaysian Open Tourney Report

Its been so long since I post a tourney report, thats cause there aren't any tourney worth mentioning and participating, BUT the one today was a big one and obviously, alot of people will be there.

Deck played : X -Sabers

game 1 : vs Six Samurai

1st duel : He won the dice roll but luckily doesn't start with Gates, but he had a United and Kizan out. I play normally and manage to drop all his hand by turn 3 and proceed to rape him.

2nd duel : He starts with gate and ends up with Kizan, Kizan, Grand Master and 3 Sets. My turn, Cold Wave, Puppet Plant and Airbellum to Black Rose. I have Regi and Faultroll in my hand, but he pulled off a Shien and I was controlled instead. Loss this duel when he used Gate to pump Grand Master to attack over Brio and had Kizan and Kageki direct attack me.

3rd duel : I start, set 2 Warnings and Emmers. He activates gate and summons Kageki, I Warning. I get Airbellum out he flipped a BOM and I end. He tried to summon Kizan but the other Warning got it. I use Foolish and Regi to summon Faultroll to the field and proceed to strip everything off his hand with Gottomz. He sets a card with his gate still intact with 2 counters. His life was 3900, with Gottomz on the field, Giant Rat AND Fullhelm in my hand, I can end this, but I sense a Mirror Force, so I just declair an attack, I was right. Set the rat, he drew Avarice(WTF?), Mizuho and get Shinai to his hand, I flipped Gozen Match. He sets a facedown attack into the rat which got me faultroll via regi. I top a MST and its over (his facedown was just a bluff ... )

OXO

Holy Shitz! Beat a Samurai !! He was having shitty luck, and maining Gozen really helped.

match 2 : vs Agents

PS , I have no idea what Agents do and how they are played before this.

duel 1 : No clue what happened aside from Hyperion destroying my monsters before I could search.

duel 2 : Sided in Banisher and did slow him down a bit, until I found out Hyperion can be summon by removing the target from hand. Basically got bitch slap from here.

XX

ranking : top64 aka scrubbed.

Nick actually went all the way to top 8 losing only in the hands of Sung Lee after a bloody long match. Kudos for the man.

The placing was :

1st - Quikdraw Dandy - Sung Lee
2nd - Samurai - Ivan
3rd - Samurai - Khye
4th - Frog Monarch - Shin Tat

Top 8 :

Samurai - Michael , Machina Gadget - ???, BF - ???, and Odin - Nick, YES, Odin.

I got a lucky draw and got a free mat.

Overall, this was a great tourney and my deck was doing good, better than before if I may add. Only problem was my meta call, which I had completely neglected Agents, must not do that again.

deck list for those of you who cared :

monster (18):

3 XX-Saber Faultroll
3 XX-Saber Fulhelm Kight
3 XX-Saber Emmersblade
3 XX-Saber Regigura
2 X-Saber Airbellum
1 X-Saber Pashuul
3 Giant Rat

spell (11):

3 Book of Moon
2 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Giant Turnade
1 Cold Wave
1 One for One
1 Foolish Burial
1 Monster Reborn
1 Dark Hole

trap (11):

3 Gottom's Emergency Call
3 Solemn Warning
2 Gozen Match
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Solemn Judgment

Say what ever you want, this is the decklist that I came up with and I'm sticking to this for a while!!

Chaos Gemini Stun. dek

I'm bored and look around the net and saw a deck that used this concept on someone's blog (the Future Vision concept).

Without Stratos, I really have no idea how consistent this deck can be, but the build is quite solid from the looks of things.

monster (15):

3 E HERO Allius
2 Dark Valkyria
3 Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast
3 Cyber Dragon
2 Beast King Barboros
2 Chaos Sorcerer

spell (14):

3 Pot of Duality
3 Gemini Spark
3 Future Vision
2 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Monster Reborn
1 Dark Hole
1 Reinforcement of the Army

trap (12):

2 Skill Drain
2 Solemn Warning
2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
2 Dark Bribe
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Mirror Force
1 HERO Blast
1 Deck Devastation Virus

side (15):

3 Kinetic Soldier
3 Dimension Fissure
2 Prohibition
2 Dust Tornado
2 Starlight Road
1 Royal Oppression
1 Dark Birbe
1 Return from a Different Dimension

Let me explain a little bout the side deck.

Obviously, Kinetic Soldier is samurai-hate. But for Samurai match ups, we side more than just the soldier. The CyDra goes in, together with Oppression and Tornado. Why not Prohibition? Its too slow to stop gate, even if you do have it first turn, a Mizuho (if anyone is using her) will get rid of it. Thats why I tend to believe the simple idea of blowing up the gate is better.

3 Soldier, 2 Tornado and 1 Oppression for VS samuria, 6 cards.

We take out the 1 Valkyria, 2 Sorcerer, 2 Skill Drain and the DDV. Cause Skill Drain stops Soldier from doing his work and he searches with Gate anyway. There is little to nothing that DDV targets unless you get it out 1st turn, which you can't. So, we take that along with the whole dark engine out.

But will Gemini Spark be a dead draw since you only have 4 Gemini? I don't know, will have to test it out first. But since Future Vision slows the game down, it should be fine.

For the BF matchups, we side in Dust Tornado and Starlight Road.

2 Tornado and 2 Road. We take out 2 Warning, DDV and a random card depending on his build. While Kalut and Gale are good DDV targets, Vayu is there, so you might be helping your opponent instead. Since with Future Vision out, his BF aren't gonna be syncroing a lot, his best bet will be Icarus, and we WILL be waiting for that. Why take out warning? He can syncro in the grave so warning would be waste of your LP, and with Skill Drain out, Dark Armed is no match for Fusilier Dragon and Barboros.

With the rise in Herald deck ... well, it doesn't really matter. Cause we have Prohibition, Skill Drain and Dimension Fissures.

2 Prohibition, 3 Dimension Fissure will kill any herald deck that isn't lucksacking. 6 cards into the deck. And coming out will be the 2 Sorcerers, Reborn, a Compulse and the Hero Blast. If he starts with Herald and set Decree on his 1st turn and have Krystia out ... I'm sorry, can't help you there.

Debris Plant variants ... well, side in 2 Prohibition, 3 Fissure and the Oppression and you are ready to go. Not much is needed to be explain.

This deck however is weak against Counter Fairies and their massive back row. Aside from that, I do not think there is a deck that this deck just lost to it (side from FTKs).

The decklist completely made on paper and no duels had been made so far, cause I can't find anyone who can borrow me 3 Pot of Dualities. Basically, if you have no Pots ... Don't run this deck ...

Working on a decklist!!

The Malaysian National is this Sunday. Asian format, meaning no promos (aside from game promos ). SD20 made Kristia a non-promo, so we are expected to see some amount of rise in Herald of Perfection, and Agents, which are not as weak as we think they are.

Of cause, the usual, Samurai, Debris Dande and BF are always gonna be there. Not to mention, out dated meta decks such as GB and Machina(which would be a pain in the ass if you don't side for them).

Me and Nick are gonna run non-META decks. He had decided upon something you guys might go OMG for. But, I've yet to decide. Lam ... he isn't sure if he could attend or not, cause, well, his working like a slave.

Gonna be building decks this week, so don't expect a lot of post. And I have college problem that I need to settle this week as well (bloody awful time table)!!

I'm seeing a decrease in maining BTH over at the land of the rising sun. Guess who ever wrote a certain post regarding that topic was right.

2 warnings or 3?

Compulse or D Prison?

20+ traps or 3 decree?

The Supremacy SUN

So, before we get the other planets (Despair Uranus, Tripping Mercury, Grand Jupiter, Blazing Mars and Suspension Pluto), we get the bloody Sun?

Which is cool and all cause the Sun is just bloody cool. Hell, he looks like a god and would fit the requirements to be a Divine Beast if Kageyama Sensei wants him to be.

BUT NO!

We can't have him be a god, hell, even the Polar Gods aren't gods, and for some reason Shueisha have completely forgotten about Osiris.

But Dark? Is that an attribute you give to the Sun?

Christ man! Why wouldn't Light do. It makes perfect sense if his light, but dark ? Not at all.

Why? If his Light, He'll be over Powered?

Yeah, if thats the case, make him water. Talk about Ironic!!

Lets move on shall we!

His (unconfirmed) effect is good.

While he can't be special summon aside from his own effect, he shouldn't be. If this dude is destroyed, ditch a card from your hand and you get to special summon him back in your next standby.

If this go unnerf, his gonna be even better than the polar gods.

Thats it for a day.

I'm looking for The Big Saturn and The Splendid Venus (the UR version of cause). Some one please hope me up with it!!

Random Post!!

When I was thinking bout this, monster space was not in my mind :

big fish summons 1 oyster, 1 fish borg, 1 rainbow fish , 1 unagi.

fish + rainbow = librarian.

discard 1, fishborg + big fish = stardust, draw 1.

discard 1,fish + oyster = hand, draw 1.

unagi + token = another librarian, draw 1. +1

discard 1,fishborg + token = formula, draw 3. +2

formula + hand = broniac, draw 2. +2

go for shooting star. +2

+5 cards in your hand. And Bronaic, Shooting Star + 2 Librarian. OTK!!

LOL !!

So, that was, 1 Mausoleum, 1 Coelacanth and 1 random card.

monster (18):

3 Super Ancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
3 Royal Swamp Eel
3 Oyster Meister
3 Fishborg Gunner
3 Deepsea Macrotrema
3 Metabo Shark

spell (22):

3 Moray of Greed
3 Mausoleum of the Emperor
3 Magical Mallet
3 Hand Destruction
3 Into The Void
2 Pot of Avarice
2 Terra Forming
1 One-for-One
1 Giant Turnade
1 Monster Reborn

This is one deck you don't wanna let him go first.

One problem with this deck is that it plays Hand Destruction. Which lets your opponent draw a couple of cards, which may be DD Crow or Effect Veiler.

While this deck is clearly an OTK deck. I rather face it then frog or anything from the previous format anyday.

...

BTW, did this crazy ass shit with my Sabers just now.

Summon Pashuul, activate E Call, emmers and garsem.

Special Faultroll. Sync for Librarian (proxy). revive pashuul, sync for scrap. draw 1.

activate 2nd E call. Blow up garsem and opponent monster. Search for Faultroll. Sp summon Faultroll. Sync into 2nd Librarian, draw 1. sync into Stardust, draw 2. Direct attack!!

LOL.

I was like having 2 E calls and a 7-tools set with 1300 life and Faultroll. Topped Pashuul. While that may already be game normally, now I have a few more hands to do stuffs!!

The Librarian is an awesome card!!

Yugioh Zexal!!

Wow!! Just wow!!

Is this YGO or Duel Masters? I was hoping the new series takes YGO to a more hard core level, not to make it more child friendly, somehow, I think this has to do with a certain new anime law.

Of the staff's, we know that Kazuki sensei and Studio Dice are there just for show (they have to have Kazuki sensei's name up there for some reason).

AND, the mangaka for the 5D's manga. My knowledge of Japanese fail me now as I have no clue what post he is aside from something to do with the duels.

Whats that blue thing next to the main chac? Duel spirit? I hope not. Cause Hane Kuriboh says NO!! Well, his//her//its name is Asutoraru or Astoral? What ever that means, cause my scans ain't clear enough for the details.

Speaking of the main character. Has Kazuki ran out of names? I mean, we all know his gonna be Yu- something, but Yuma? I mean, that sounds like someone who might just appear on Wangan in Wangan Midnight. Putting that on a kid? Ok ...

BUT, my main problem ain't with the name, its fine. His last name ... not really. How do you even read that? Sorry, this coming from a chinese guy, but, its hella funny!! The kanji translates to 99. Seriously 99!! I'm sorry, but thats TOO DAMN COOL!!

The series is set in the near future, from our point of view? Yusei's or Judai's? I have no clue. Judai's please!!

I have not read most of the things on the scan, I post this the moment I found this on a certain chinese forum. So, don't get angry if I missed out anything (most probably!)

Some updates!!

Yesterday, my team mate Nick went to locals and top 2. For a man of his caliber, thats really not something to be surprise about. BUT, he did it with Karakuri.

Now, for about two weeks, Nick was convince that Karakuri is good. I mean, we all know they are good, but he is convinced that they are BF good (or something like that).

So, he took his build and went to Sg Wang yesterday, alone, cause I'm having my finals and Lam's working. And beat the crap out of most of everyone in the locals and scored a second place there. Ok, he didn't beat everyone, but ... you get the point.

He succeeded in proving to us//me that Karakuri is a tourney worthy decks, and throughout the day, he have success and ending up losing only to our beloved Wong Fei Hung.

Nick remarks that, he did not lose to Lightbeat BUT Thunder King Rai Oh. Which if you read my previous post is one of the 5 cards I think is going to be really important this format.

From the looks of things, while STOR brought a lot of duelist into the Samurai world, its still the same old Lightbeat topping here at KL, nothing had changed since the beginning of this format.

Now, thats that. Time for some personal news!!

My side deck for Sabers has finally been completed, aiming to bring down the top 3 decks in the Meta while my main can take care of others.

Dustshoot is amazing, even with all the discarding my deck does. Maybe because I main Morphing Jar but the card really win games for me.

STILL, taking Samurai without Rai Oh is hard for me (Sabers is my deck for the official tourneys so I don't have promos in it).

While I like my build and all, I still need to practice with it (siding wise) cause I can't really take out a lot of cards without seriously hindering my deck's strength. Some problems are still available I guess.

Main deck wise, my Sabers is more powerful than my E HERO, but it isn't as versatile as my HEROs and can't take on bad match ups as easy. And its hard to side out card, unlike my HERO deck which I can side out all 15 cards in my side with relative ease. At the moment, 7 is the maximum amount of cards I could side out at once.

I'm now trying 2 Volcanic Queens in my saber side, its good cause it basically lock my opponent with Gozen Match. When going against Herald, sac Herald for Queen and activate Gozen match, sure, you might take that 2500 damage, BUT, your gonna burn your opponent alive. Against Samurai, yeah, he can summon Mizuho, and now what?

But this is all in theory of cause, I still have not went to any locals to test this out yet.

Hope this was a fun read!!

5 Important cards this format (to me):

These cards are gonna be important for the rest of the format (I'm speaking Malaysian meta of cause). While people are gonna argue, why card XX ain't here and card XX ain't good enough. But most of you would agree with at least 3 of the cards (I hope ... ).

Lets not waste more time as I'm actually having my final paper for this semester next Wednesday. And I really should be refreshing some notes now.

1. Compulsory Evacuation Device

I personally like this card main. But side is just as good. The big 3 of the Malaysian format is now officially, BF, Six Samurai and Herald of perfection. While not really affecting the top decks a lot, it will most certainly mess up all the other decks to some degree. While is this card good then? It saves you deck spaces you need to counter a lot of decks and focuses your side on the 3 main ones.

Decks that this card absolutely rapes : Scrap, Gigavise, GB, and any other syncro heavy decks.

2. Dust Tornado

I can imagine people in the OCG dropping Trap Stun (which isn't really that popular in the first place) for this. Of the 3 top decks, only BF plays heavy traps(Samurai do also, but doesn't rely on traps as much as BF). Dust Tornado gets rid of face down, face up, trap AND spell. Thats the beauty of this card. Its a one way out to Gate and a faced down Decree(just set) for decks that don't have much space in their main.

Its more user friendly then Trap Stun in our format. Cause the only decks that plays trap are like mentioned, BF, GB and Stun.

3. Cyber Dragon

What!? I mean, I know its good against Machines but is it that good? YES! I mean, if Six Samurai doesn't have Shien out, there is nothing they have that is gonna top this thing. And if you ARE the one running Samurai, this card is gonna be good in your side cause people are gonna side in Kinetic Soldier. Like Compulse, this is just one of those cards that could single handily take on a lot of decks.

He can take on : BF, GB, Herald, Light Beat, Machina, STUN based decks (if oppression ain't out yet), Karakuri and so much more.

I personally like to have 3 in the sides or main 1 side 2. But its really hard to find the perfect number for him.

4. Thunder King RaiOh

This is a beast of a card. Its a beatstick that can TOTALLY stop your opponent in his tracks. To competitive players, Rai Oh is no stranger. But now, his more important than ever. The top 3 decks in our format all falls under his kill list. It slows BF down if you get him out turn 1, and stops Samurai and Herald right there. Problem with this card is that its a promo and not all decks can run it.. For those who can, he is gonna be your MVP, thats for sure.

5. Lava Golem//Volcanic Queen

Which of the 2 is better ... I really don't know, I mean, Volcanic Queen is easier to bring out but Golem does more damage. In my previous post, I mention that how Golem takes down Samurai and stuff. Queen takes down Herald and BF easier. Not that you wanna side this in against BF, but ...

Why are they good? They don't destroy and tributing are cost of the summon. Matagama and Herald says ... oh ...

BUT, this is still on experimental stage as I still have not test this side against the mentioned decks. Next week, wait till my exam finishes!!

...

That wraps out my top 5 picks for the (Malaysian) format. I like reading feed backs so type out what you think BELOW.

Malaysian duelist : Why isn't HERO beat a top deck in Malaysia? It tops a lot.

me : For the fact that only 1 guy plays it (right). No matter how consistent he//she tops with it. If no other guy plays that deck, its not going to be considered a meta deck.

This same answer goes to alot of decks as well.

Again, if you have things to say, down in the comments please!!

Btw, why did the world get destroy by syncro monsters?

HERO Beat 2011

When Mask Change and Vision Hero Adration comes out, this is going to be one fun deck to play!!

monster (13):

1 E HERO Airman
3 E HERO Another Neos
3 E HERO The Heat
2 E HERO Ocean
2 E HERO Wildman
2 King of the Swamps

spell (21):

3 Miracle Fusion
3 Dual Spark
3 E Emergency Call
2 Fusion Gate
2 Polymerization
2 Mask Change
2 Book of Moon
1 Super Polymerization
2 Mystic Space Typhoon
1 Monster Reborn

spell (6):

2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Dimension Prison
1 Hero Signal

and now comes the pain in the ass ...

extra (15):

3 E HERO Absolute Zero
3 E HERO Shining
2 E HERO Nova Master
1 E HERO Gaia
1 E HERO The Great Tornado
1 E HERO The Earth
1 M HERO Gokka
1 M HERO Vapour
1 M HERO Daian
1 V HERO Adration

This is assuming we are getting Daian and Dark Law later next year.

And the extra deck will be more packed than ever :

extra (15):

1 Surging Dragon Knight Draco Equites
1 Chimera Tech Fortress Dragon
3 Thunder King Raioh
2 Cyber Dragon
2 Lava Golem
2 Super Polymerization
2 Dust Tornado
2 Skill Drain

Why the weird side deck you say?

The 2 Fusions are self explanatory. Cause my extra deck is full.

Rai Oh is good VS Samurai, BF and Herald(if I go first). And even Machina in some cases. We all know how good the king is.

CyDra is also another self explanatory card. You gotta have him, either side or main.

Lava Golem, a card I know you guys have your question mark on!! Easy, VS Samurai and Herald!! Herald can't negate it(although I'm not sure about Krystia) and Samurai just can't do shit before it. Giving him a 3000 beater is no prob for me since I can snatch it back into Nova Master. Even if I can't, I rather face a 3000 beater than a Shien and something else. Why no one uses him ... I'm clueless... Basically, this card is good against those who swarm.

Super Poly is also another card that doesn't need any explanations.

Dust Tornado to get rid of those pesky stall cards and Gateway//Whirlwind!!

Skill Drain is cause I don't have enough space for more cards, so I throw in something universal!!

TG- Hyper Librarian

This dude is a beast!

If this dude has more than 2000 attack, its gonna be the next Wisel (value wise).

Lets put aside his effect first and come back to it later.

Being a 5 Star Spellcaster Syncro has already made this thing a beast to start with.

Not having to tune with a spellcaster ... OMG! Broke!

Why?

1. Junk Syncron
2. MagiCat
3. Monster Reborn

This card can basically go into the spellcaster OTK deck I build years ago and make it twice the deck it was.

Going into his effect, draw a damn card when a syncro monster is successfully syncro summon...

You don't think that's broke? Ok, it isn't. BUT extremely useful, and in a syncro based OTK deck, this card can play an important role.

you : BUT from Shriek, it say when YOUR OPPONENT syncros!! Can't you read!?

me : go take a look at the pic I have above. Its written there

XXXまたは相手がシンクロ召喚成功した時 ... (XXX or your opponent successfully syncro summons)

YOU : maybe XXX can be the judge? It doesn't says you!!

yeah, and you mom's a guy.

I think this guy is GOOD, not broke (although I wrote a lot of Broke up there) and worth the rm16.

I can imagine this card being use by some Japanese dude in some OTK, and people will go like : WOW!! This shit is broke!

...

While Gokka and Vapor aren't that powerful, Mask Change is a killer!!

BUT, my real interest is in V HERO Adration!! Since its 2 HERO as the fusion material, if it has its manga effect(1 opponent monster attack is decrease by the attack of another (V) HERO), it'll not be broken ... but GOOD!

Release more V HERO and you don't have to release an E HERO + Dark, which is good!!

I don't wanna see Super Poly and Miracle Fusion getting hit!!

Found this on some chinese forum!!

Krystia, Splendid Venus, Hanewata, Honest to name a few good reprints.

Now the AWESOME reprints :

Consecrated Light AND Burial from a Different Dimension!!

They really shouldn't have 2 Sanctuary in the Sky in the deck ... cause it means 3 extra for those of us planning to get 3 copies .... Err, no, I don't plan to get 3 copies.

BUT, if they decided to put in 2 Smashing instead ... awesome!!

Never the less, this deck is a real winner, you'll still get it even if your not interested in agents.

Super Ancient Deepsea King Spirit . dek

monster (24):

3 Seven Color Fish
3 Super Ancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
3 Oyster Meister
3 Royal Swamp Eel
3 Fish Borg Gunner
3 Dark Dust Spirit
3 Izanami
3 Yamata Dragon

spell (14)

3 Mausoleum of the Emperor
3 Moray of Greed
2 Magical Mallet
2 Terra Forming
2 Hand Destruction
1 Pot of Avarice
1 Upstart Goblin

trap (2)

2 Royal Decree

Just a deck for fun. I just like the fact that Dark Dust Spirit and Yamata Dragon gets you advantages like they are free.

Really like Izanami cause she gets your spirit back by pitching a card which could be a fishborg or an extra mausoleum. PLUS, her attribute is WATER.

Coelacanth is a BEAST!! Spamming 2 Shooting Stars 1st turn is no joke, back that up with Royal Decrees and you have a winner here.

Your opponent has to waste their resources to get rid of them and by the time they did that, you would have your spirits in your hand, Dark Dust will get rid of anything for you IF they don't have Stardust (Cause Decree would be out).

Yamata Dragon will gain you advantage like its nothing. Izanami ... has some huge ass, 1800!! If your opponent can't get rid of her, ditch a card from your hand(Fish Borg), ditch another for the fish and tribute both for Yamata and grab 5 cards while your at it.

I have to warn you thou, this is all done on PAPER only, I don't own this deck, cause Moray and Eel are expensive!! Not to mention Formula Syncron!!

Ma Birthday!! WOOHOO!!

Yesterday was a total disaster(like something from JJ Abrams)!!

Me, Lam and Nick was to organize a tourney for the guys over at Atria, BUT the turn up was like ... 4 guys ... and they were complaining about how expensive the entry was ...

So, plan fail. Entered the tourney just for fun and Lam won with 6 Sam ... what else is new?

Today is epic fail day !! They are hosting a Secret Rare Tori tourney at Gamers, yet I have to stick with my family the whole day!! Awesome!!

Thats it for now!!

Oh ya! BTW, saw a YGO player that drives a Mustang. WooHoo!!

Saturday, December 4, 2010

What to do today:

1. Me, Nick and Lam are organizing our own tourney for some local players. This will be our first, so its quite exciting.

2. Gonna look for 2 more horses, 1 white goat and a random trap card for my Thor deck. Which is extremely fun as I tried with proxies, brought out Thor 5 times in a match with Pot of Avarice.

3. Sell some cards to make money.

4. IF I go to Sg Wang//TS today. I'll get a MG 00-Qan[T]!!

5. Countdown to my 20th Birthday tomorrow!!

Personal Tech for my X-saber Side deck :

1. Kaiser Colosseum

This card is awesome in here, at least in my deck. This card completely stops swarming. Unless they wanna waste a MST on it. My deck usually doesn't swarm, and most of the time, I'll only have 1 monster on the field, so this card is deadly in here.

2. Skill Drain

Most of the (more important)monsters I have activates their effect in the grave. I could care less about what happens on the field. It does slows me down, but for the fact that I could potentially stop my opponent at his tracks, I can live with this. Its a weird tech, I know, but what works for me usually doesn't for others.

Malaysian Meta VS Trap Stun :

Trap Stun is good but not good enough to be worth maining now over here. As I said in an earlier post, people don't play as much trap as you think. Its not like its not good, it can work, just not as good as you thought it would.

Dust Tornado is the better card at the moment because of (A) Samurai and (B) it does the same thing as Stun most of the time (being getting rid of back row threats).

People are saying True Six Samurai are overhyped, well, they aren't. I've seen alot of lists, they ARE good, extremely good, BUT not broken just yet. Yes, it can swarm like crazy and blow the crap out of everything you have and maybe negates your activation once in a while. BUT, you'll still need that gate out.

People are comparing True Six Samurai to Infernity last format, to me, whats there to compare? I mean, you are taking an extremely good deck to be compared to an almost broken deck. Both need a specific card to go off, I get this, BUT difference is one has to wait for that specific card while the other just searches for it like turn 2?

Don't get me wrong, in a single duel, the True Six Samurai deck vs Infernity 3x Launcher, Infernity would win 80% of the time, BUT in a match, its the complete opposite. As there aren't really many cards that can really just kill samurai yet not affect your deck at all.

This coming from a non-samurai and non-infernity player may be not convincing, please ignore me if you find it not true.

Here is my Thor deck right now which I find quite consistent:

monster (19):

3x Polar Beast Horse
3x Polar Beast Goat (White)
3x Polar Beast Goat (Black)
3x Super Nimble Mega Hamster
3x Ryko Lightsworn Puppy
2x Mine Mole
1x Sangan
1x Card Trooper

spell (14):

3x Pot of Avarice
3x Upstart Goblin
2x MST
1x Giant Turnade
1x Cold Wave
1x Burial from a Different Dimension
1x My Body as a Shield
1x Last March
1x Monster Reborn

trap (7):

3x Polar Star Treassure Gungnir
3x Gleipnir, Fetters of the Gods
1x Solemn Judgment

Polar Star Treassure Gungnir is good in here cause of two things, Bottomless Trap Hole and Caius the Freaking Shadow Monarch.

Mine Mole cause it can't be destroy by battle once, and I may draw 1 if I have Za Horse in my hand and I go into Bicorn.

Upstart just to thin my deck a little.

Thats it for today!!

Updates!!

Some updates before I go into exile//study.

I like this card : Skull Meister.

1. He looks like Rihan from Nurarihyon no Mago.
2. he basically does the same thing as well.

But, why can't he be an Undead instead of Fiend ? It would fit his Yokai status more, but that would be gay considering he is a beatstick that ... does nothing else actually. Why ain't he an Undead?

...

Considering The GX manga is about to end. The final duel is coming up (maybe a filler duel or 2 in between).

Its almost certain that its gonna be Judai + Manjyome VS Trag!

Things that I hope happens in the duel :

1. Trag bloody summons a Planet(random 1) first turn. And keeps spamming Planets after each 1 is destroyed thanks to a certain card//combo.

2. Judai summons a cool M HERO and beat the crap out of the combo. He(Judai) sets up for a game winning play(with Sarco like cards).

3. Trag goes evil and plays Polymerization!! Fusing into The Earth!! Judai goes emo!! Manjyome fends him off.

4. Manjyome summons LaDD and destroy the freaking Earth and Judai sees images of Koyo.

5. Trag summons The Sun and control the field.

6. Judai is 1 turn from completing his combo BUT Trag notices and sends the Sun and who knows what effect he has to Judai's M HERO.

7. Manjyome tries to be the HERO and activates a trap(you know the one) that directs the attack to LaDD(at 800 now). Says something EPIC and faints. LaDD's effect kicks in and let Judai summons a M HERO.

8. Judai draws, says something EPIC. Activates the 1 card that he had been waiting for. Finishes his big play, summons THE MOST EPIC M HERO and wins!!

Thats how I want the manga or at least the duel with Trag to end!! Sorry for the fanfic!!
